Montecchio Chianti Classico
About the Producer:
Fattoria Montecchio is a winery located in the heart of Chianti, in the Tuscany region of Italy. The winery has a long history, dating back to the 1700s, when it was part of a larger estate that produced wine, olive oil, and other agricultural products. Today, Fattoria Montecchio is committed to preserving the winery's traditions while also incorporating modern techniques and sustainable practices. The winery is situated on a hill overlooking the medieval town of San Donato in Poggio, where 7,200 hectares of vines are entirely for the cultivation of Sangiovese grapes, which are used in Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva. At Fattoria Montecchio, the process of aging is identical to how it was 400 years ago: Chianti-style refermentation, strictly in oak barrels.
About the Wine:
Cultivation of vines using spurred cordon training system. Aged for 12 months in 25 hl wooden vats.
Organoleptic Notes:
Deep ruby red color with hints of violet. Good structure with powerful freshness and a long finish. Soft and silky tannins. Noticeable citrus, fruity and floral flavors with persistent scents of violet.
Pairing: Ideal with soups, pasta with meat sauces, cured meats, semi-mature cheeses and poultry.
