Colterenzio Pinot Nero
About the Producer:
Colterenzio is a small area on the outskirts of Alto Adige, a place that looks back on a centuries-old tradition of winemaking. Founded in 1960, they are one of the newest wineries in Alto Adige, and over 300 families work behind the winery scenes. Colterenzio estate has over 300 hectares of vineyards, with 14 different varietals of grapes growing from an altitude ranging from 230 to 650 meters. In 2009 Colterenzio cellar was fully renovated to become energy self-sufficient.
About the Wine:
Vines are grown on west facing slopes at altitudes between 400-500 mt. Soils are morainal mixed with clay and eroded porphyry. The crushed grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of approximately 25 °C. The skins are kept constantly immersed in the embryonic wine by pushing them down gently. The new wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is refined in concrete tanks and large wooden casks for at least 6 months.
Organoleptic Notes:
Brilliant medium ruby red with a fresh, fruity nose, reminiscent of red currants and black cherry. Medium-bodied, round with soft tannins, ripe berry flavors, typical varietal character reminiscent of morello cherry and blackberry, well-integrated with the acidity.
Pairing: Perfect partner to light starters, roast partridge, rack of hare, Peking duck, and meaty fish.
