About the Producer:
 The roots of this brilliant adventure go back to the 1800s, when Ferruccio Biondi Santi planted the first Montalcino vineyard with vines of a selected clone of Sangiovese, called Sangiovese Grosso or Brunello: it was the first step towards a new way of making wine that would soon in the history of Italian wine. Nowadays, the estate’s 50 hectares of vineyards are exclusively dedicated to 3 grapes varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese Grosso BBS11, the historical and unique clone discovered and developed by the Biondi Santi family. The estate’s unique terroir and its microclimatic characteristics are the key elements that make Biondi Santi wines so valuable and recognized worldwide.

About the Wine:
 Favorite oenological son of Castello di Montepò, a label capable of enhancing all the organoleptic qualities brought by Sangiovese Grosso BBS 11, the exclusive heritage of the Biondi Santi family. A fresh, round and dynamic wine, whose name is inspired by an erratic boulder of volcanic origin which, over the centuries, has fueled numerous local legends. Vineyard grown on soil with galestro mineral varieties contribute to an optimal development of the plant by giving its fruits unique and representative scents of the terroir. Exposition to west and south-west, at 300m to 450m altitude. Harvested manually done at the end of September. Aging for 14 months in barriques of non-toasted Tronçais oak.

Organoleptic Notes:
 Brilliant ruby red with violet tones. Bouquet is fruity, fresh, intense, predominant of sweet violets. Gentle, velvety, and elegant on the palate, long lasting finish, yet “ready”.

Pairing: Selected meats and roast, saltwater fishes.
